Mini-aran cable pattern

The snow and storm have calmed down enough and the snow crews have treated the road so I ventured out in my car for the first time since Saturday. Elaine was delighted with her mitts. I rarely knit for other than blood relatives. She looked cute in them and promises to wear them to the auction house. Think barn in central PA not Sotheby's. Mother is knitting a cap in the round and has managed right to left, left to right, inside out and rightside. We started over this afternoon with safety pin markers and prompts. That broken right elbow from 6 yrs. ago really did a number on her lateralization. My mother is 81 and has more ambition, for herself and me, than any 21 year old. I love her and she is one fiery, wonderful person.

On needles now- mini-aran cable pattern Kroy Sock on US1 12" circs. Knitty voodoo wristlet in cotton candy pink TLC, shiny& fluffy all at the same time-way too girlie. I love it!

Kroy pink sock

Hello all! I spent a snow day at home. Now I don't do that. The last snow emergency my partner Joe and I sold a house by driving a client around in an ice storm in his hummer.

Today, I called in a bit of work, did some work at home and then knit all day. How cool is that! The Kroy pink sock varigated didn't suit me in broadripple. Great pattern , but I just wasn't feeling it. Had to frog down to cuff and have started a mini aran sock design. Still fun with the varigated yarn and the ribs and cables help keep socks up on the leg when finished. I just added weather pixie. She has a cute hat and warm mittens. I seriously need to wear my hat and gloves--- with a coat and all three at the same time. Take care. See you later , bye!

VooDoo wristlets and more

Wow! What a great weekend for cocooning and getting something done. I finished my friend Elaine's wristlets ( Knitty.com voodoo )Saturday. They are worsted wool in dark teal and maroon variegated. I have a thing with variegated yarns and self striping sock yarns. It is like Disney land between your needles. I finished the plum merino wool sport weight socks and finished one cotton candy pink fluffy shiny wristlet for a hairdresser friend of mine. I am sitting in the back waiting with foil packets on my head and knitting Elaine's second wristlet when Cherish asks what they are and would I make her a pair. Now Cherish is not my hairdresser, not my Mom's stylist (Tracie), nor my partner's hairstylist (Marzia), nor my wonderful beautician (Rachael), but she asked and I was just delighted. Cherish is a tiny little twenty something with big puffy blonde hair , a sweet face, teensy little black pants and high heels always. She is Carlisle's answer to Kate Hudson. The yarn for this step out of the box fun for me is TLC by Red Heart. I went to Walmart, a proper yarn shop, and then Ben Franklin to finally find the just right pink shiny fluffy soft yarn. My mom is knitting a cap and Cherish is crocheting a scarf out of the same yarn. I thought acrylic was a thing out of my small town south past, but I couldn't stop knitting with it- fast and fun. May I also add cheap at $2.49/ 5 oz. pull skein. Kind of like yarn fast food.

I did not fall into the mega pile of laundry , but am still washing since Friday freaking night! Take care. I'll get you all pics just as soon as I figure it out. Putting pink variegated Kroy sock yarn up for ripple socks for my sixteen year old sweetie.

Five things I try to do to make it all better.

Whatever it is about January, I always find myself muffled and lost. I remember it from being a little girl. Just going through the motions and trying to outwait winter.

Five things I try to do to make it all better.

1. really hot showers with luxey soap, stand there for a real long time, shave with a new razor and use a lot of moisturizer.

2. lots of hot drinks, try for more tea and less coffee.

3. Actually wear my coat, hat, gloves and scarf and take my dog Brownie for a walk in the frozen world anyway.

4. get out and see people

5. take extra C, E, ecanachia and an aspirin in the morning. I swear I'm not so frozen and stiff with just the AM aspirin.

Think warm thoughts and rev up for a great weekend.

I am hoping to finish the Knitty Voodoo wristlets and the Merino sport weight plum socks this weekend. IF I don't trip and fall down in the vats of dirty laundry that await me. I'll not do the Scarlett O'Hara thing and think about that tomorrow. I will start on it tonight.
