the-daffodil-principle
I have good luck with daffodils. Tulips, not so much. This new place came with Mt. Hood, King Alfred, te-ta-te, and some fancy bright orange trumpeted varietal. They are all doing wonderfully as are the hyacinth, crocus, and grape muscari. The tulips look goofy and out of place. The tulip leaves look like they are on the cusp of struggling with mosiac leaf. They look scrunched and in the wrong place, What’s up with that? Is my garden telling me something?

The neighbors in my mews all got together to put out luminaria on our streets. We originally planned to light the way on Christmas Eve, but what a deluge that day! We rescheduled for Christmas night. Just as we were about to sit down to beef and twice baked potatoes and the whole shebang I realized it was getting dark and the candles outside needed to be lit. It was beautiful and as you walked the neighborhood you could tell who had used scented votives as you walked by the houses. Merry Christmas. It was perfect.
